Oak Parquet Blocks Laid Hull University

The University of Hull is a public research university in Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1927 as University College Hull. For this job we had to use flooring equipment with the existing one so with the management we decided to use oak parquet block stained with a mahogany stain.

For this project we had a total of 160 sqm of prime oak parquet block to install over several days to suit the universities opening hours. In this project we also had to do a curved disabled ramp and several steps.

The first step for this project was to be install the oak parquet floor over a few days. Once installed the floor was sanded and stained with a mahogany stain. We have finished it off with a high traffic lacquer to give the oak parquet floor the resistance required.

We had to also encase the steps in parquet blocks and for the front edges we used a metal profile to protect against damage. These steps we have finished in same finish as the floor with a mahogany stain and high traffic lacquer.
